Point Pinos Lighthouse
Point Pinos Lighthouse is located on the northernmost
tip of the Monterey Peninsula. Shortly after
California became a state, the United States Congress
appropriated funds for six lighthouses on the coast.
One of these was at Point Pinos. It's beacon has shone
since February 1, 1855. The building, lenses and
prisms of the light are all original. Point Pinos
Lighthouse is the oldest, continuously operating
lighthouse on the West Coast and is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
Point Pinos Lighthouse is open to the public, Thursday
through Monday from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
