BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES


Grand Openings -- Ribbon-cutting receptions for new
and remodeled businesses. These receptions are presided
over by the Mayor or other City dignitary and the general
membership is invited to participate.

Business Referrals -- Through the Chamber office, visitors
centers and other trade shows. Requests from approximately
36,000 visitors and residents are handled annually in the
Chamber office.

Brochure Rack Cards -- On display inside the Chamber office,
the Information Center display outside the Chamber building,
and at the Information Center at the American Tin Cannery
Premium Outlet Center. 50,000 Pacific Grove rack cards are
printed and distributed by Certified Rack Distribution to
220 locations throughout Monterey County. Rack cards contain
a Visitors' Center special package, containing discount coupons,
map, Historic Walking Tour brochure, and souvenir Pacific Grove
video.

Address Labels -- Chamber member or entire city business
license lists.

Committee Participation -- Ambassadors, Economic Advisory,
Hospitality, Downtown Promotion, other committees as needed.

Visitor & Relocation Packets -- Designed for visitors and
potential residents. Visitor packets contain information
on dining, lodging, attractions and general interest.
Prospective resident packets include information such as
real estate, schools, churches, member retirement
communities, financial institutions, home improvement
businesses, and general information about Pacific Grove.

Commercial Site Selection & Relocation -- Provide assistance
in helping new businesses find suitable site locations.




MARKETING

Local-- Cooperative ads in local newspapers and three
television stations, marketing Pacific Grove's business
in the shopping districts-- Downtown, Sunset, Central/Eardley,
and Country Club Gate/Forest Hill.

Regional -- San Francisco Chronicle/Examiner, Bee publications,
and others.

National -- Several travel trade publications such as the AAA
Tour Book.

Monarch Days Celebration -- annual marketing campaign held
during the Monarch butterfly season of October through March.
Local restaurants, lodging establishments, retailers and
attractions offer special discounts and values to Pacific
Grove visitors during this time.

Downtown Benefit Improvement District -- Consortium of more
than 300 downtown merchants, who have created a source of
funding to promote downtown Pacific Grove.

Downtown Directories -- Strategically located directories,
highlighting 80 downtown businesses and major spots such as
the Police Department, City Hall, and Museum of Natural History.

Souvenir Pacific Grove Video -- Highlights Pacific Grove's
scenic attractions.

On-screen Advertising -- At three local movie theaters,
promoting Pacific Grove as a premier shopping destination.
Seen by more than 300,000 moviegoers each year.

Tourist Map -- 30,000 printed and distributed at the Chamber
office, and Information Centers at the American Tin Cannery
Outlets and Asilomar Conference Grounds.

Barnyard/Crossroads Display Advertising -- Promoting Pacific
Grove as a shopping destination, attracting 85,000 visitors
a year through ads at those sites.

Internet Home Page -- Complimentary listing of Chamber members
with addresses and phone numbers. Reduced member rates for
home page development and Web page links.

Photography & Slide Library -- An assortment of Pacific
Grove scenic shots, video footage and digital images are
available at no cost to members.
 



NETWORKING

Good Morning PG -- Last Thursday of every month from 8:00
to 9:00 am. Networking session where infomercials are
encouraged and speakers discuss topics affecting business.

Business After-Hours Network -- Third Tuesday of each month
from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at various locations. Introductions and
business card exchange program. Complimentary refreshments.

Periodic Membership Luncheons -- Locations vary. Luncheon
speakers address topics covering pertinent business and
community issues. Exhibit and sponsorship opportunities.


PUBLICATIONS

Calendar of Events -- Mailed frequently to all Chamber
members, listing all upcoming Chamber activities and events
and mailed to all members.

Business Rap-Up -- Bimonthly Chamber newsletter mailed to
more than 600 businesses. Members encouraged to advertise
with their business card.

Award-winning City & County Map

Historic Walking Tour Brochure -- Provides information about
18 historic homes and buildings.

Economic Profile -- Demographic data updated annually.

Membership Directory -- Lists Chamber members by category.

Holiday Calendar of Events -- Lists special events, such as
open houses, planned by local businesses.

Inventory of Vacant Commercial Space

New Business Listing -- in Monterey County Herald.
 



EDUCATION

Surveys -- Hospitality and Shopping Survey results available.
Focus group results on business issues.

Seminars -- Topics include small business survival techniques,
competition with mega-stores, technology, stress management,
and safety information.

Candidates' Debates -- City and County candidates and issues
affecting the local community.

Consultation -- Business review and advice.

Mystery Shopping Service -- Anonymous inspection of your
business with a follow-up report provided. Peer Counseling,
Site Inspections and Recommendations


COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Events -- Good Old Days, British Car-Meet, Feast of Lanterns,
Annual City Christmas Tree Lighting, Stillwell's Snow in the Park,
Pebble Beach Equestrian Classic sponsorship.
